Video game lovers of Minecraft will have a new way to play the game very soon. Minecraft’s developer Mojang recently announced what they plan on doing for the new game and it will be released in story mode.
The adventure, which will be a narrative, is currently in development by TellTale games, an expert in that area. The first chapter of the game is on schedule for a 2015 release, but no time was given as to what period of 2015 it would be released. The new game will available for use on smartphones, PlayStation and Xbox consoles and Mac and PC as well.
Responsible for excellent interactive dramas that became extremely popular, for example The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead, Telltale has stated that the game will be new and have an original story that will be driven by the player’s choices.
It looks as though the new game will not feature Steve from the traditional Minecraft games. That character has generally been the lead character in every Minecraft installment, which has had over 50 million copies sold for consoles, smartphones and PC.
In a post on one blog, Mojang explained that they are not trying to create an official story featuring Steve but rather they are just creating a cool game.
It seems as if the new game, which will not require its players to have a version of Minecraft, is in development with critical help coming from the very dedicated and huge Minecraft community, although there is a great deal of uncertainty as to how the new game will work.
However, one thing is very clear and that is Telltale will not be using its experience with The Walking Dead to develop more terrifying creatures and zombies in Minecraft.
The game will be aimed toward a family audience just as the first title released was.
It is unlikely this will be the last spin-off for Minecraft. The brand is continues to grow and is already a big hit for additional merchandise, such as toys, clothing and books. In addition, there are many Lego sets available and many more to follow. A movie that centers on Minecraft is also being released.
