French tycoon Bernard Arnault and his luxury goods group LVMH have pledged 200 million euros ($226 million) to the reconstruction of Notre Dame, after a reported 100 million-euro donation from another French billionaire, Francois Pinault.

A statement Tuesday from LVMH reported the luxury goods group along with the Arnault household would make the contribution to a rebuilding fund Monday afternoon to the palace, which had been swallowed by flames.

LVMH called the palace a”symbol of France, its tradition and its motto.”
