Five Guys Voted Favorite American Burger Brand

Americans love their burgers and having a side of peanuts makes them even more popular. At least the results of a new poll show that for the new top restaurant for burgers.

Five Guys renowned for its bacon cheeseburgers, hot dogs and endless amounts of peanuts was named the EquiTrend study Burger Restaurant Brand of the Year

The chain of burger restaurants is based out of Lorton, Virginia and beat out In-N-out the two-time champion, which came in second this time. The top five in the Harris Poll study was rounded out by Shake Shack at No. 3, Wendy’s at No. 4 and Culver’s at No. 5.

Three factors are used in the EquiTrend study – familiarity, quality, as well as purchase consideration – in order to determine the overall top burger restaurant in the U.S.

Over 100,000 consumers in the United States assessed over 4,000 brands amongst 450 different categories including casual dining, electronic stores, luxury department stores and best chicken amongst others.

Five Guys made it all the way to the top finally being considered more than just a regional brand, as the franchises is now in many states and Canada with over 1,500 locations.

Harris Poll brand solutions vice president Joan Sinopoli said that the category of burger brand has become much less fragmented of late.

She added that this was definitely the case with the winner Five Guys, who shed the small regional player label as it expanded it marketing budget and overall footprint across the country and into Canada.

In addition, its fandom is a huge contributor to its brand equity, said one food analyst interviewed. Once fans start getting the word out, the fortunes of a burger can soar even faster than using a market push on radio, television or other media.

Five Guys has grown its footprint, which in turn has help to grow its overall popularity helping it to reach the top of the latest Harris Poll.

Burgers and fries or in the case of this year’s leader burgers and nuts have been a popular for decades. The meal is considered one of the few remaining American-style meals.

The second five in the top 10 for burger brands were Whataburger at No. 6, McDonald’s at No. 7, Sonic American’s Drive-In at No. 8, Smashburger at No. 9 and Steak ‘n Shake at No.10.
